The Department of Statistics held an alumnae meet on 28th September 2024, with Ms. Simran Gupta, now a data scientist in the corporate world. She talked about her journey from her college days at IISU to her current job, highlighting how important statistics is in today’s world.
She explained that statistics is key in many industries, like business, healthcare, and government. Even though she faced challenges, like learning difficult models, software’s and keeping up with new technology, she said that her love for data and hard work helped her succeed.
She also talked about the many career options for statisticians, including data science, actuarial work, and research, encouraging students to explore these opportunities.
She ended by sharing her achievements and advice on how statisticians can make a big impact in both industry and society.
