Semi Popular Talk on “What is the geometry of the Universe?”

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, IIS (Deemed to be University) successfully organized a Semi Popular Talk on titled “What is the Geometry of the Universe?" The session aimed to promote mathematics among women.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Radhika Gupta, a professor at TIFR, Mumbai, who is also an alumna of IIS School, Jaipur. Dr. Radhika Gupta discussed essential postulates given by Euclidean geometry and explained their principles as applied to hyperbolic geometry.
A total of 65 students and 13 faculty members, including the Dean of Sciences and the Director of Physical Sciences, attended the event. The session concluded with the understanding that the geometry of the universe remains a mystery.
All the students were very enthusiastic and expressed a desire for more sessions like this in the future. They also requested sessions covering commerce-related mathematical concepts and some more topics for school students to enhance their interest in mathematics.
