A survey on "Gen Z's Interest in Old Music" was conducted by a Statistics student of IIS (Deemed to be University) between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The aim of the study was to investigate whether the younger generation, particularly Generation Z, listens to and prefers old music compared to the latest Bollywood music. A questionnaire was designed and circulated among students. Responses were collected, and the data was analyzed based on listening habits and genre preferences.

It was concluded that a majority of the young individuals surveyed listen to old songs, and more than half prefer old music over contemporary Bollywood music. The study found that classic songs continue to maintain a strong emotional and nostalgic connection even among the younger population. This trend is influenced in part by social media platforms like TikTok, where old songs gain renewed popularity.

The findings indicated that the null hypotheses — that Generation Z listens to and prefers old music — were accepted. Tables and graphs further illustrated the proportion of students who enjoy old songs and their frequency of listening. It was observed that old music still holds significant charm across generations.

These findings suggest that despite evolving musical trends, the timeless quality and emotional depth of older music continue to resonate with the younger generation. Encouraging musical diversity and appreciation for different eras of music could foster a richer cultural understanding. The study also helped the student practically apply statistical tools like hypothesis testing and data visualization.
