Objective: 

This paper is designed so that the student get familiar with statistical software for solving the statistical problems based on fitting of probability distributions, application of parametric and non-parametric test.

CO 26: Analyze the various data and ability to fit population distributions on data.

 

CO 27: Analyze the various data and ability to fit sampling distributions on data.

 

CO 28: Identify the problem and apply the non-parametric test and large sample test accordingly.

 

CO 29: Come to the conclusion with minimum data using SPRT.

  • Plot binomial curve for different values of n and p
  • Fitting of binomial distributions when p is known and when p is unknown.
  • Fitting of Poisson distribution when λ is known and when λ is unknown.
  • Fitting of negative binomial distribution.
  • Fitting of Normal distribution
  • Calculation of areas under normal curve.
  • Small sample tests viz. t, F, Chi- Square.
  • Bartlett’s test for homogeneity of variances.
  • Test of significance of sample correlation coefficient.
  • Sign, median and run tests for small and large samples.
  • Kolmogorov- Smirnov one and two sample test.
  • Kruskal Wallis K sample test.
  • Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney U test.
  • Kendall Tau Test.
  • Sequential probability ratio test and calculation of constants and graphical representation for testing simple null against simple alternative for (i) Binomial (ii) Poisson (iii) Normal (iv) Exponential distributions.

Note: Practical exercises will be conducted on computer by using MS-Excel/SPSS/R.
